A man is arrested in San Sebastian for crimes against human trafficking and workers' rights. The detainee occupied 49 migrants in four homes and one premises in Eibar, for 250 and 450 euros. According to the Spanish police, they lived stacked in “painful” conditions: they slept on the ground in mattresses, without heating or basic appliances, with humidity and insects. In addition, he exploited them in construction works, with days of more than eight hours and without protection measures, among others.

Police indicate that the detainee deceived the migrants because they did not know the language and legislation. He managed to earn 5,700 euros a month and, in addition, he registered immigrants “fraudulently” for money. The man was arrested on 30 December and is now at liberty awaiting trial.
