The camp will be held in the park of Armur, on 21 and 22 September. Precisely, Armur is one of the affected areas: the works will occupy one third of the park of three and a half hectares and the platform states that they will destroy that green lung, among other things, they will cut down all the trees.
The Deputy wants to start work in the spring of 2025, it would last four years and would have "significant negative effects" for the neighbors, according to the platform, among them for the Arcup-Romo Institute (it would deal with part of the patio, the students would have a lot of noise and pollution…).
The members of the platform are clear: the project is “absurd”, and in these times of climate emergency, it goes against the ecological transition, as seen in the environmental impact of the project. The project envisages a 33% increase in traffic (63,000 cars per day). The platform considers that, instead of freeing up congestion on the roads, the new motorway will further boost the use of private transport.
The cost of the motorway is over EUR 450 million, and the platform is clear on what the alternative is: public transport and cycling should be a priority. In other words, the way to solve the traffic problem in Rontegi is to boost public transport rather than adding another road.
The solution to the problem of traffic in Rontegi is to strengthen public transport rather than add another road, according to the platform
