The Vitoria-Gasteiz Txosnas Commission calls on August 5 "to take the streets" and presents the program all day long
  • Txosnas de Vitoria-Gasteiz turned 40 years ago, but in the face of the exceptional situation, they decided to do a "stop". However, under no circumstances have they stopped their activity and the various agents that make up the Txosnas Commission have continued to work on a daily basis. This year they have made an appeal to take the streets at parties, inviting them to participate in the all-day programme to be held on 5 August.

After the end of this year, the agents of Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz have made an appeal to take the streets in this year’s festivities. To this end, at today’s press conference they invited to participate in the Entxosnatu Day to be held on 5 August.

The members of the Txosnas Commission have pointed out that they are aware that the festivities of Vitoria-Gasteiz will have to take a different form this year, but they are not willing to “keep their arms crossed without doing anything” because they also have to “guarantee the demand and the political content” in the festivities. In short, “the Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz are the meeting point of popular movements: the source of an alternative model of leisure and festival, the plaza of the eleven struggles, the possibility of transforming the current trends and values, the opportunity to participate, the opportunity to learn…”.

Therefore, taking as a priority the collective response to the crisis and placing it at the centre of ‘health and care for all’, they have stressed the need to take the streets and have presented a comprehensive programme on 5 August to meet this objective.

At 10:00 a.m. there will be a popular fair in Burullerías Square and 40 years of the Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz in Etxauri Square.

Then at 11:00 in Plaza Martín Ttipia there will be space for the little ones, games and storytellers.

At 14.00 hours there will be a popular meal in the Black Kampos space.

Finally, a demonstration will begin at 6.30 p.m. starting from the Artium de Gasteiz.

Finally, the Txosnas Commission has reported that this year two txosnis will be delivered to the txosnis. The 2020 prize will be received by the Pensioners’ Movement, because they are people who have been ‘present throughout the journey’ of the txosnas and, as if that were not enough, it is ‘a group that has been active on the street in recent years on the front lines’. The hotel owners will be awarded the 2021 prize.

On August 5, the Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz called for a popular and alternative holiday model because the popular movement "continues on the street":

«..we continue to weave the feminist struggle, we scream at the four winds the return home of Basque political prisoners and prisoners, we continue to claim that young people choose life, we continue to narrow the distance with other countries and struggles of the world, we continue to claim alternative forms of communication, we continue to live the neighborhoods. After all, we continue to show that another people is possible!’

The programme is as follows:
