Spanish President Pedro Sánchez and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz support the gas pipeline project linking the Iberian Peninsula with Germany. The current context makes it essential to reduce Russia ' s gas dependence. But the French State is opposed to the road. That is why the two authorities are seeking the protection of Emmanuel Macron.

If, however, they fail to obtain authorisation from Paris, Sanchez says that the European Commission has another way. They also have on the table the draft of a new energy interconnection that will bring Spain and Italy together.
