More than 3,000 members of the BNG have participated in the seventeenth edition of the meeting held this Sunday. National Assembly. Pontón was the only candidate for the presidency of the party and obtained almost total support: 99%. Pontón made an intervention in which he argued that the BNG has opened a "historic opportunity" to achieve a government in Galicia. The challenge of the BNG for the 2024 elections is, according to Pontón, to move from “leading the opposition to leading the government.” It has set a short-term goal for the party to reach “the majority of society and wider sectors of citizenship”. To do so, he has chosen to “rethink” the Statute, “providing Galicians with all the tools that will allow them to give a better life”.
