The Department ' s Prefecture has announced in a press release the outcome of the compensation process to Lapurdi traders to alleviate the losses caused by the security measures established at the G7 summit.

In total, 584 aid applications were processed by the state, of which 59% were from establishments in Biarritz, 22.5% from Baiona and 10% from Angelu.

Complaints were also received, albeit to a lesser extent, from Hendaia (3.5% of the total), Bidart (2%) or Urruña (1.5%).

The presence of the leaders of the seven most powerful states in the world in Lapurdi led to the adoption of great security measures that went beyond Biarritz, covering the entire coast of Lapurdi, also in Gipuzkoa.

Initially, the State contributed a little more than EUR 300,000 to compensate for these losses, but, finally, the Spanish State will distribute EUR 1,161,000 as compensation. According to the Prefecture, this amount will be distributed mainly among small businesses, as 80% of the applicants declare an annual turnover of less than EUR 500,000.

Beneficiaries will receive in the coming days a notification of the amount of aid they should start receiving at the beginning of November.
