The Chamber of Inquiry of the Court of Appeal of France issued its resolution on 29 April and rejected for the second time the request for the release of political prisoner Josu Urrutikoetxea, which was also denied on 1 April. The defence had requested his release on probation for health reasons and had proposed the introduction of a telematic control bracelet.

Following the previous demand for freedom, on 1 April, a certificate was presented from the chief doctor of the prison La Sante, who called for the suspension of the prison. According to this document, the dissemination of COVID-19 can influence the evolution of the health of this inmate.

On the eve of this case, 126 international personalities were calling for the release of the Basque political prisoner.
