Collection underway to help recover the bodies of the mountaineers Bilbao and Agirre
  • Given the impossibility of rescuing the bodies of Iker Bilbao and Amaia Agirre who died on January 19 in Mount Fitz Roy, their relatives decided to team up and travel to Patagonia to "try to recover the corpses and end the mourning stage". In order to be able to pay their logistical and operational expenses, they have launched a collection.

According to the relatives of Agirre and Bilbao, the team that has assisted Mount Fitz Roy is made up of alpine experts and volunteers who, in order to help the families affected, have decided to give up their work for an indefinite period. They add that there is no intention of financing any type of expedition or rescue, and that if the economic needs of the volunteers are terminated and capital is available in the current account, it has been decided to use this capital to deliver rescue material to the Andean assistance commission El Chantel and thus be able to collaborate in future rescues.
