The Spanish Justice has released the computer scientist who leaked the list of the world’s richest tax scams with hidden money in Switzerland, but has ordered strict measures to preserve it: Falciani will have to remove his passport, prevent him from leaving the country and appear before the judge every week. In addition, de Egea has also ordered constant police surveillance.

Among the reasons for his release, the judge says that already in 2013 the National Audience denied the extradition request of Switzerland because there is no equivalent of him in Spain to be tried and punished for "industrial espionage" in that country.

Falciani’s arrest has raised serious suspicions and has led some to suggest that the political conflict in Catalonia may have been involved, in the form of pressure to extradite Catalan politicians in Switzerland.
