Gustavo Petro, candidate for the Historic Pact coalition, M-19 Abril is former guerrillas of the Movement and former mayor of Bogota capital. Having met the expectations, he was the leader of the first round, but he did not win 50% of the votes. In the second lap you will need more protection to overcome the right. Experts say it will be difficult because their candidacy has little room to "grow", unlike Hernani's. The populist Rodolfo Hernandez, candidate of the League of Anti-Current Rulers, is an engineer and former mayor of the city of Bucaramanga.

In Petro's words, the triumph achieved in the first round is "the failure of the political project and the uribism of President Ivan Duque", and he has promised that "the new era" will begin in Colombia. "Corruption is not fought through Tik Toki's phrases," he said, with indirect reference to opponent Hernández. He also said that ‘change’ is underway.
