Ararteko asks the Tafalla City Hall to ensure care in Basque

The intervention of the Ombudsman of Navarra derives from the complaint raised by the Euskaraz Group in the Administration, which recommends that the City of Tafalla "take the necessary measures" to guarantee the right of citizens to address the administration in Basque. Tafalla entered the mixed area in 2017, along with 42 other municipalities.

The group has announced that the City of Tafalla has 137 workers, of whom 133 jobs have a monolingual Castilian profile and the Basque language is not regulated as merit. Only four positions meet the requirement of Euskera: three educators from the children's school and the Basque technician from the town hall.

The Euskaraz Administrazioa Group first went to town hall and answered: That the City of Tafalla has not examined the characteristics of the jobs and the functions to be developed, has to be studied, but has not received complaints from the citizens, and that it has a Basque technician to meet the requests for care in Basque.

The group went to Ararteko and intervened. The Tafalla City Council is recommended to remind it of the legal duty to guarantee the linguistic rights of citizens. Ararteko has made public in the Administration the communication received by the Euskaraz Group:
