EuskarAbentura wants to cross Euskal Herria again next summer
  • If the state of health is guaranteed, the EuskarAbentura expedition, which runs through Euskal Herria, will be re-launched in summer 2021. Young Basques born between 2004 and 2005 will be able to enjoy this experience after the 2020 edition has been cancelled.

In the presentation held at the San Telmo Museum in Donostia, the organizers have recognized that they do not yet know 100% which routes or how many young people will be able to participate in the next EuskarAbentura. "The 2021 expedition will be organised according to the state of health and the rules in force at each time. As summer approaches, updated information on the project will be published," they indicated.

However, the selection process has already begun and, as in the past, young people aged 16 and 17 who wish to participate will have to submit a one-minute presentation video and an individual project, which will have to choose between the formats and themes proposed by the association euskarabentura.eus. The deadline for presenting these videos, which will last until March 12, has been chosen, in collaboration with Eusko Ikaskuntza and the PuntuEus Foundation, for the 120 best authors to participate in the expedition.

Looking forward to returning in 2021

Due to the situation created by the health crisis, the organization was forced to suspend the 2020 expedition for the punishment of the 316 young people who had signed up to participate. However, in order to assess the "active attitude" shown by these boys and girls, their candidatures for the 2021 edition will be taken into account.

Despite not having carried out the expedition this year, they have continued the project through the EuskarAbentura 2.0 alternative. “From Instagram we proposed different challenges and over 60 young people were encouraged to participate,” explains Ane Pedruzo, partner of the association.

Looking ahead to next summer, Pedruzo has announced that different options are being planned with the aim of offering the same experience: "reduce the mobility of the expedition, reduce the number of young people or the duration of the activity, for example, by making shorter actions of fewer people... Our ultimate goal will be expedition."
