The company Euskalgintza de Pamplona (AEK, AET, ELA, IKA, LAB, Sortzen, STEILAS, Zaldiko Maldives) filed a complaint on 22 December. Its objective was to reject the linguistic policy of the City of Pamplona and the Government of Navarra in the Children's Schools.
The legislature is about to end and our Txikis do not have the opportunity to learn Euskera in the children's schools in the neighborhood, in the municipal and in the government schools. The latter administration has seven schools distributed throughout the country, five in Pamplona, of which only two are offered in Basque (also in the mixed model).
We can look back and look at the governments that have been in recent mandates. We leave this to the reader, we tell them that the situation is currently deficient. How is that possible! Let's go back. Navarre families are not offered the possibility of going to school in Basque, they have no guarantee, they have to suffer a violation of language rights.
We would urge parties to include in their programmes measures to ensure that children have Basque education, it is time to bring the Basque question to the forefront.
The next school year will not change in Ninia-Etxea, Nuestra Señora de los Angeles, Nuestra Señora de Roncesvalles, San Jorge and Santa Teresa schools. But what we want to do is ask the political parties, the Euskaldunes and the Euskaltzales, both right and left. There will soon be elections, and we want to ask the parties to include in their programmes measures to ensure that children have Basque education, it is time to bring the Basque issue to the front line.
But they have to know that to propose mixed models does not guarantee the children an appropriate process in the teaching of Euskera, nor does it guarantee the teaching of the other languages. To this end, both the Government of Navarra and the City of Pamplona should make an active offer of immersion in Basque.
You can't look the other way, like so far. We must be guaranteed linguistic rights. Only in this way will they promote social cohesion, coexistence and equality.
