The crisis has shown that for the institutions and social partners Castilian is essential and Euskera is, on the contrary, an opportunity. That is what EHE believes, and that is why they have called for the need to move our language to the centre. They say that in the reconstruction proposals the Basque country has to be present, and not in a symbolic way, as is often done on many occasions. “What’s more, not only must the Basque be, but the construction of the future Basque Country must come from the Basque Country and the Basque Country. The Basque Country must be a transversal line in all projects”.
“In order to be an autocentric community, sovereignty is essential to decide on the future of the Basque Country and achieve full normalization,” added the partnership in a statement. “We Euskaltzales have to be aware of the challenge we have. We have a responsibility to implement the advances made in the reeuskaldunization of Euskal Herria in the last decades and to make the leap to the goal. It is time to free ourselves from dependency and to be sovereign, as Basques and as a people. So that Euskera doesn’t get locked up,” they say.
