“After a Spanish talk, I once asked a question in Basque and talking NO DIFFERENT! They started yelling at other people in the audience and I had a really bad time.”
The users of Euskaldunok Planto have proposed that these kinds of experiences be identified and put on the table, calling to "fill the Basque Day with content" for tomorrow, when Euskaraldia is in its final line. "As long as the oppression of the Basques lasts, 3 December is the day of struggle and denunciation," they said.
The campaign was carried out in a private link, which was reported to be a Donostia group. "We call on all Basques of EH Bildu to identify the micro and macro aggressions they suffer in their attempt to live in Euskera," they said.
Examples of different typologies have been given to help identify the aggressions: contempt, threats, emotional blackmail, discrimination, situations of unprotection, humiliation, imposition, etc.
Some examples below: “I better adapt to the Basque country. In a presentation I spoke in Spanish. With my language, accent and difficulties they made jokes”; “My mother does not know Basque, because her parents did not transmit the language to her for the suffering they suffered”; or “In the whatsapp group of the neighbors I have written my opinion in Basque. Some have asked me to make a translation saying that they don’t understand Basque and that we all know Spanish.”
At the end of the talk, the spokesmen of the group say that they are "in favor of an Euskaltzale, rebellious, strong and fighting movement".
