The Maritime March organized by ETXERAT was held this Sunday at 12:30 hours on the cliff of Plentzia for the seventh consecutive year. “Stop the dispersion! Prisoners, exiles and deportees to Euskal Herria!” has been the motto of this year. Like every year, a tribute has been paid to family members and then a flower has been thrown into the water of each of the prisoners and left from the beach walk.

Faced with the pandemic situation caused by the coronavirus, the organizers have asked “to take care of each other and ensure health measures”, and this year they have not organized a popular meal during the march.

The callers have stressed the need to "put an end to the emergency penitentiary policy with the criminal". In the same vein, they have claimed “everyone home before it’s late,” as well as “an Basque Country without prisoners, escapes or deportees.”

They recalled Kepa del Hoyo, who died of a heart attack in Badajoz prison three years ago and was transferred to the prison. In 2017, the IV March was held in which Maite Sánchez, wife of Del Hoyo, and his son Peru were honored at the pier. “Three years without Kepa. VII Tallarines Contest of August 16. At this Maritime March, they call for the suspension of the criminal prison policy that is still in force and which murdered Kepa.”
