Representatives of the Pensioners' Movement of the Basque Autonomous Community spoke with the Ararteko on July 29 and asked the institution to pronounce on "possible violations of rights in nursing homes for the elderly", in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the pensioners' groups have explained, a letter containing information on the situation in nursing homes has been distributed at the meeting, although it has also been admitted that there is talk of day units and home help services. They call on Ararteko to "in the event of infringements of rights issue the necessary decisions to diagnose the adequacy of public policies followed by the administrations concerned and, where appropriate, issue the relevant report".

They have also proposed that this body carry out "the inspection visits necessary to verify compliance with the Headquarters Decree of July 2019, even more so if situations similar to those suffered are reproduced".
