Postponed the project intended to bring the recent history of Euskal Herria to educational centers
  • The Basque Government has decided to postpone for the next course the Herenegun project, presented by the Basque Government in October, which is against the parties and which is planned to be launched next April. A process of reflection is now underway around the didactic unit that covers the period 1960-2018.

The project was criticized by the PNV when it was presented. PSE and pp consider that ETA's activity was "bleached" in the contents; EH Bildu states that the didactic unit "made a political, ideological, subjective and controversial reading" of the historical facts; and Elkarrekin Podemos, who did not support the implementation of the project as such.

The Basque School Council, for its part, has made it clear to the government: until such a bitter atmosphere is overcome, it will be difficult for the project to enter the classrooms. They affirm that this is a project that is delayed and opens a phase of reflection, in which "the maximum possible consensus" is sought. Starting in the next year, students would offer their content in the fourth ESO and in the second year of Baccalaureate.
