The cycle of women filmmakers from Euskal Herria will begin the programming of the Basque Film Library
  • The cycle Women Basque filmmakers will take place at least in three years and in this first cycle you will see nine works by filmmakers at the Artium Museum of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao and the Tabakalera of Donostia-San Sebastian.

In 2021, the Basque Film Library has moved to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Vitoria-Gasteiz to schedule the cycles in the three capitals of the CAV. The first will be held from October to December with the aim of putting into value “the talent of the female filmmakers who have recorded a feature film at least in their trajectories”. Each filmmaker has freely chosen which film he wants to expose, present and discuss in public.

These are the nine films that you can see this SABADO: The dark years (Arantxa Lazkano, 1992), El paso del tiempo (Mirentxu Purroy, 1993), Kamarada (Julia Juániz, 2019), Butterflies in the iron (Bertha Gaztelumendi, 2012), Varados, (Helena Taberna, 2019), Zeru hori (Aizpea Goenaga, 2005).

The Basque Film Library, founded in 1978, aims to “investigate, recover, archive, preserve and display films and audiovisual works of cinematographic interest, with special attention to Basque cinema”.
