“The challenges of forestry in the Basque Country of the 21st century. The objective of the round table, entitled “The disease of pine insignis”, is to encourage reflection on current forestry policies in the Basque Country. In the words of the organizers, “we want to open the debate and lay the foundations of a new forestry with experts in the sector; combining points of view from institutions, academies, carpentry and ecology”. Now that the disease of the insignis pine has devoured the forests, it is necessary to give way to reflection.

Participants at the round table shall be as follows: Oskar Azkarate and Josu Azpitarte de la Asociación de la Madera de Euskadi BaskEgur; Itziar Barinaga, professor in the Department of Financial Economics of the UPV/EHU; Aitziber Sarobe, expert in rural development, natural resources management and sustainability of the primary sector; Roke Director of Forestry It will moderate the Iñaki Ezkurra programme, former Deputy Environment Minister of the Basque Government.
