1,546 children will participate for 10 days in the challenge of Apantallar in Ipar Euskal Herria. With the help of teachers and parents, children and adolescents will disconnect from all leisure displays. Among the ikastolas are Ikastola de Ortzaiz and Ikastola Eperra, among others.

The control of the time spent in front of the leisure screens is a great public and educational health challenge, as pointed out by the Association 10 Egun Apps Utzi. He defines the challenge as a collective exercise for digital disconnection and states that it has achieved surprising results: 84% of parents believe that the challenge significantly helps them to better control the time their children spend on leisure screens, and 100% of teachers see it as a very useful experience.

Increasing strength

Jacques Brodeur created the mobilisation in Québec in 2003. Since then, eleven centres and institutes have established mobilisation. Starting in 2018, 10 Days of Utzi Screen offers an increasingly successful collective challenge: 4,500 people participated in 2018, 6,000 in 2019, over 17,000 in 2021 and over 36,000 in 2022.

The goal of the challenge is for children and adolescents to spend 10 days without leisure screens. In return, students, parents, teachers, associations and communities work together to create a program that offers alternative activities in those ten days. Actions are performed in normal screen hours, in the afternoon after class or on weekends, for example.

Opening Act

The opening of the challenge will take place at the Colegio San Franses Xabier de Urruña. It will be held on Tuesday, 7 June at 10:00. Symbolic disconnection of the students' screens, implementation of the collective counter, etc. they will be carried out.
