In these times of anger and anguish, anger at leaders, anguish at recurring alerts about the situation of the planet and the climate, in times when defeatism and denial hinder the will to act, Bizi! the movement proposes another path, to build a desirable territory that respects the borders of the planets, a sustainable, supportive and sovereign Basque Country.

Most of the solutions for climate change are present, the greatest transformations can be achieved at local level, where the levers of action and the most accessible political actors are located.

Since 2018, Bizi! works in a territorial project, the basis for reflection and the proposal, for all those who want it.

A sustainable territory because it respects the borders of the planet and allows for a unique future for future generations.

A territory of solidarity: because it is an inclusive territory, because it serves the weakest, because it is a community in continuous construction, due to its cultural characteristics, by globalization in the fight against the storm of the unifier.

Sovereign territory: because it allows the inhabitants of the territory to recover the conditions of their lives, participate in decisions affecting them and reduce addictions…

The project “Euskal Herria Independiente: recovering our living conditions” has been enriched since 2018 with reflections, meetings, information documents (1)…

The project will start a new phase with the organization of the event of the same name.

Change scale

Since 2013, and as a result of Alternative Day, the climate emergency has become a concern for many people beyond militant circles.

The consequences of climate change are evident, both locally and globally, awareness has increased, the issue appears in the media and in public discourse, the climate movement has been structured.

But this does not become really effective measures, because the interests of the beneficiaries of the capitalist system prevail over the common good. Therefore, we need to change the scale to move from the level of individual consciousness to the identification of the levers of collective action to have a massive effect.

This change of scale is necessary, on the one hand, for the results it entails, on the other, because it reduces the feeling of powerlessness and injustice and, on the other hand, to avoid the individual rudeness caused by the policies of small gestures implemented by the agents of immobilism (to encourage energy-saving people to place a high-neck jersey instead of investing massively in the innovation of buildings and in the transition to renewable energies).

Sovereign 2023, 7 jumps before a great leap!

The weekend of 7 and 8 October will therefore be the strong time of 2023, with conferences, exhibitions, concerts and animations on seven related topics: food, economy, energies, housing, mobility, politics and solidarity. Until then, seven acts of call “The Seven Jumps” will be held in the seven territories of the Basque Country between April and September. Each event will influence some territorial and collective action to act against climate change.

The call events will begin on 25 April with the first leap: a round table on the housing issue, with the participation of the COL movement, Alda and the creative and happy frugality (Züzülü, 25 rue des Cordeliers in Baiona). We look forward to seeing each other on 7 and 8 October to meet the climate challenge!
