In June, “mass demonstrations” were held in the three capitals of Hego Euskal Herria and “many critical contributions” were presented by various agents of the Basque Public School in the hearings before the Parliament’s Committee on Education.

In its appearance, the platform explains its reasons to reject the bill: it perpetuates the dual public-private system, it does not prioritize the public school, it does not guarantee all students the use and knowledge of the Basque Country and it does not collect effective measures to cope with segregation, among other things. They add that the bill “supports indoctrination” and is based on “competition” between schools.

Responsibility of political groups

“If Euskera is to be strengthened, the public school must be strengthened,” said the members of the platform, and they ask all the political groups to take responsibility for it: besides betting on strengthening and protecting public services, they prioritize the Basque Public School and give “no” to the Education Law. Because they claim the Public Service “unique, common and for all”.
