Denounce that the European Pact on Migration and Asylum will legalise practices against migrants
  • The European Union wants to adopt the Treaty on Migration and Asylum in the coming days. The Bachué Association, the refugees Ongi Etorri and Amnesty International have demonstrated against the treaty and have made a concentration in protest to the Government Subdelegation.

The groups have denounced that the Pact on Migration and Asylum is "contrary" to the values of Human Rights and Europe, and that it is marked by the agenda of the extreme right.

They explain that the adoption of the treaty will mean the ‘legalisation and dissemination’ of some existing practices. These include:

  • Each Member State will draw up a list of ‘safe third countries’, which means that persons with these nationalities will not be able to apply for asylum in the Member States.
  • Legalisation of immediate expulsions and deportations and total freedom of Frontex.
  • The deadline for the Dublin Pact is extended, further aggravating the situation of people who have not yet regularised their situation.
  • Children from 6 years of age may be deported and fingerprint studies performed.

They have also pointed out that migrants who manage to reach the peoples of Europe suffer inequality and racism in many ways.

They call for an end to ‘death and expulsion policies’ and migration policies based on respect, equality and dignity.
