The European Commission Health Advisor, Isabel de la Mata, said on Thursday that when the COVID-19 vaccine comes out, there will be the same vaccine for all EU countries. He doesn't think it's "reasonable" for every country to have to put their own vaccine.
De la Mata has pointed out that the EU shares the findings. "There has to be a unitary vaccine and then it has to be used by all the countries of the European Union," said the spokesman for the Community Executive. He stressed that the important thing is that “vaccines should be available to everyone”.
"Citizenship has understood that we are as strong as the weakest link in the chain. One cannot try to vaccinate one country and the others cannot," said De la Mata at the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Santander.
In addition, he believes that the pandemic will “accelerate” the process of digital transformation of Health, especially because of the “additional” financial effort being made as a result of COVID-19, and because of its “urgent” nature.
According to De la Mata, "everyone" has realized the need to establish links between the different health systems and health. "It does not seem acceptable that banking systems are connected, but health care is not," he stressed.
