As EH Bildu reported this Tuesday, the non-legislative proposal has been endorsed by the majority of the House in Congress. The coalition has reached an agreement with UP Podemos and PSOE to maintain social measures on housing and basic supplies, "as long as necessary", in relation to the pandemic. With the amendment agreed with UP and PSOE, the proposal is expected to be adopted at the plenary session on Wednesday.

According to statements by EH Bildu gathered by the news, the parties of the Spanish Government have managed to make a commitment to maintain these measures "until other permanent mechanisms come into force". The sovereign coalition has ensured that this step is "a guarantee" that, as long as new mechanisms are not adopted to respond to housing and basic supplies problems, these social measures will be extended "as long as necessary". "Thus, the most vulnerable families, people and groups will be able to continue to be protected from evictions and cuts in basic supplies."

The agreement prohibits cuts in electricity, natural gas and water supplies, suspends evictions without an alternative and temporarily defers the payment of the rent in the case of families in which a situation of vulnerability can be demonstrated. In the letter signed by the three parties, it is specified that the social measures will be extended by Decree-Law before 31 October, the date on which they expire.
