On 20 November, in Baiona, the book "Euskal Herrian bizi eta ukan" will be presented. No to speculation! Under the motto 'Don't Miss', they have called on citizens to manifest themselves. On Wednesday, some thirty social agents appeared to denounce the housing crisis in Ipar Euskal Herria and called on citizens to demonstrate. Eli Arostegi, of EH Bai, recalled that the case affects "the whole society": Especially those who need it most, but also those of the lower middle class. According to BERRIA journalist Ekhi Erremunerdegi, the fact that so many players from different areas met at the press conference. The call for the demonstration has already been signed by more than 100 people.

According to the organizers, in recent years it has become a "great challenge" to get a decent home in the French Basque Country. The reasons for this are elite tourism and mass tourism, inflation of the price of land, increased rents and the multiplication of second homes. Faced with this situation, they have called for the implementation of "adequate and adequate" housing policies: "We have the time to call on local voters to put in place a resolute and downward policy," he added.

The proponents have argued that these policies are based on five principles: regulation of the housing and land market; public or collective management of land and housing; prioritization of the principle of "housing for all"; real exercise of the right to decent and affordable housing; guarantee of compatibility with ecological and climatic needs. They have put forward concrete proposals to deal with the housing crisis. For example, to regulate the price of rentals, to apply drastic measures to tourist homes to avoid speculation and to limit the number of second homes (currently 21% of the homes of Ipar Euskal Herria are second homes).

Call for participation

In addition to the demonstration in November, they have called on the public to participate in the open assembly to be held on 27 October in Uztaritze and to subsidize the concentration of expenditure. Finally, they have asked him to go to the demonstration with the keys in his hand, as they will use it as a symbol.
