The Basque Government says "everything it had to say" about ETA's disarmament in the face of the Pacifists' complaint
  • "Everything the government had to say is already said in that report," spokesman María Ubarretxena said on Tuesday in reference to the report prepared by the Basque Executive in 2019. At the press conference last Monday, participants reported that the report is “false and interested”.

Ubarretxena made these statements at the hearing he held this Tuesday following the meeting of the Governing Council. The spokeswoman for the current Basque Government endorsed the conclusions of the 2019 Basque Government’s disarmament and disarmament report and stated that the Basque Government has endorsed ETA’s statements. “The report was drawn up at the time by the Basque Government. It is a 120 page report on the whole process. That report is public and, therefore, everything the Government had to say is said in that report.”

In the Faktoria programme of the Basque Country, Irratia, this Tuesday morning, they referred to the minutes of the meetings and the denunciation made by the Pacifists. As they have indicated, the former lehendakari has also sent them "the Urkullu environment" to tell them that it "has nothing new."

Complaint by peacemakers

On Monday morning, Bakegileek appeared before the media in Baiona, coinciding with the eighth anniversary of the arrests. Following the closure of all the proceedings against him, Bakegileen explains the actual facts of the last phase of ETA’s disarmament, with the aim of refuting the Basque Government’s account of 2019. This report includes the minutes of the then meetings between the Basque Government and the Pacifists.

The Pacifists accuse the Basque Government of "lying", of "attributing a little pathetic" the role played by the French Government, of "making it difficult to disarm" and of "not trusting the Pacifiers".
