He was a member of the ETA Argala command and was sentenced to life imprisonment in the mid-1990s. Therefore, the penalty did not have an expiration date, as did Jakes Esnal.

Haranburu will end the penalty with the electronic wristband imposed on him by the Supreme Court. This decision is the result of many years of work and mobilizations, according to the Artisans of Peace. "This has been achieved thanks to the work and mobilisations carried out by defence lawyers, civil society and elected representatives. We are increasingly determined to continue our work, so that Ion Parot and Jakes Esnal come out as soon as possible and we can look for ways to release all prisoners."

The BaGoaz and Artisans of Peace Association have announced that "30 years is enough". under the slogan "They have campaigned for their freedom."

Eh Bai and EH Bildu valued the construction of peace and coexistence as a step forward, as they informed the media.

"Truce, disarmament, dissolution... All the steps that have taken place in recent years have been a way to achieve lasting peace in Euskal Herria, without overcoming or overcoming. Although there has been disarmament and some approaches, in general, the attitude of the French and Spanish States and their justices has been retrograde. We therefore welcome the change of position of the Paris Court of Appeal. We will have Xistor among us and that makes us wait. We have achieved this result thanks to the mobilisations we have made in recent years and we must continue to do so until we have the last political prisoner among us," they said.

They hope that this decision will bring about a "permanent change" in both the prison policy and the position of the magistrates and that the next news will go in the same direction, especially in the case of Jakes Esnal, Jon Kepa Parot and Unai Parot and the other Basque political prisoners.
