The Spanish Congress has decided to amend the Sport Law of 2022 and athletes will be able to decide whether they want to go to the Spanish National Team’s calls. The bill was drafted by the ERC party and approved by Congress in plenary on Tuesday, with 177 votes in favour and 169 against.
CKD proposes the law “to guarantee the right to autonomy of the will of athletes”. Until now, it was the obligation of players to go to the calls and, if not, the federations could impose a fine of up to EUR 30,000 and suspend the licence.
