- With regard to the example of the cultural censure in Pamplona that has been announced on Thursday (ban on Herriko Taberna), we now have news from Wednesday: For some time now, some Spanish cultural professional organisations have been distributing a small demonstration. We found the Basque version in the Max Awards communication.
This is what the statement says:
The professionals of the world of culture wish to denounce the return of censorship against freedom of expression, against the social and democratic rights established in our Constitution. We call for the protection of our fundamental rights, because without CULTURE there is no democracy.
When they say "in our Constitution" they refer to Spain. Some Basque bodybuilders have pointed out that the freedom of expression of Basques or Catalans has also been censored before, but, well, now we have to face it (as a sign of this bird by Fermín Muguruza).
These are the reports of censorship that have emerged in recent weeks about some news that has been known since Vox and the PP have met in some municipalities and autonomous governments. Removed from programming, for example:
- A work based on the Orlando work of Virginia Woolf.
- Briviescan de Burgos, another theater play that recalls the pedagogical work of the shot by the Franco masters Antoni Benaiges.
- In Gijón, in Asturias, they already said that a Asturian musician will not be hired and then they specified that the supporters of the Asturian official will be removed from the programming (to do so in Asturian, OK, but not to claim the official).
