The government has also wanted to make it clear that the crisis caused by COVID-19 is a priority and that a referendum will not be held until it is overcome. The text of the draft law states that it will be the next Scottish Parliament to organise the referendum.
The Government has also adopted two other bills in recent months with the aim of laying the foundations for the holding of the referendum. However, Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon has repeated on several occasions that she wants to agree to hold the referendum with the British Government, as she did in 2014.

The question of the referendum will have only two possible answers: yes or no. According to the survey, recently published at Herald's request, the independentists would be 52% at the moment, and 48% would be inclined to stay in the United Kingdom. The same investigation was carried out in 2014, but on that occasion a position clearly opposed to independence was imposed.
