Refuting the Ertzaintza and El Correo
Errekaleor Bizirik @errekaleor 2023ko uztailaren 20a

The main objective of journalism should be to obtain, treat, interpret and disseminate truthful information. It is hoped, therefore, that the journalist will not manipulate or lie a fact, for interest, fear or neglect, and that he will adequately tell all his knowledge about it. However, mass-media journalism has once again shown us that the difference between news and reality is evident.

A clear example of this is the article published yesterday by El Correo. The title read: "Errekaleorraren okupas Ertzainri laguntza eskatzen dute mycological". It is clear that this media has not carried out any information contrasts with the intention of attacking the Errekaleor Bizirik project. It is not the first time that El Correo, and in particular journalist David González, manipulate reality through malpractice to express their opinion against the Errekaleor Bizirik project.

Last Sunday, July 16, we made a call to 112 for a health problem of a neighbor who lives in the neighborhood, requesting the presence of the ambulance and not the police. It's not the first time we call an ambulance for a health problem. The reason for the call was, therefore, medical assistance to a neighbor, and not the police transfer of the person as indicated in the article.

The reason for the 112 call was not to “mediate in an internal conflict” between neighbors, as the article said. And let the Ertzaintza and David González rest assured: we solve ours without their help, we do not call them or call them to come into anyone's house.

The article has a lot of sensationalism and yellow press and little journalistic ethics. We therefore invite the Ertzaintza, the journalist David González and the newspaper El Correo to correct the lies about this fact.

Police don't protect us, our neighbors do.
