The Ertzainas denounce the violent eviction of a Donostia-San Sebastián square
  • El Antigua's neighbours have denounced that last Saturday, when children, parents and neighbours were in the vicinity of Mikel Laboa Square in Donostia-San Sebastián, the Ertzaintza suddenly "aggressively and aggressively" entered the plaza, violently evicted the plaza and attacked several neighbours. “It is unjustified to enter so strongly in an area where children are present without warning.”

According to the residents of La Antigua, the appearance of the Ertzaintza took place at 21:30 a.m. on December 19. “A dozen encapuchados with their porras, helmets and shields appeared without warning on Paseo Mikeletes, running. In the face of this situation, most of the neighbors who were on the fronton and in the park fled. In the face of the violence of the operation, several neighbors who witnessed the events went to the place to denounce their violent and unreasonable attitude and ask the agents of the Ertzaintza for explanations. The Ertzaintza then threw itself at these neighbors, assaulting some and threatening to stop others. A few minutes later, they decided to leave the plaza.”

“Strength and fear of the pandemic?”

The Anti-Tartarians have strongly denounced what happened, convinced that things could be done differently: “If they thought there were too many people in the plaza and wanted to evict it, it would be enough for it to appear in a peaceful way, as municipal police officers or the Ertzaines themselves have done before. So why suddenly so much violence? Who ordered the plaza to be vacated? Who decided to do it by force? Do you really think that using force and fear to deal with the pandemic is useful?”

The Anti-Tartarians have recalled that this is not the only event that has been seen in recent days by the Ertzaintza in San Sebastian, “and we demand the end of this aggressive attitude”.
