- The Ertzaintza has arrested an ertzaina as the alleged perpetrator of an attempted murder of three persons of different consideration. The agent, who was out of working hours, declared in self-defence that he shot three alleged robbers in the van. According to the research of the Ertzaintza, this is a falsehood.
The attempted murder occurred on 21 July. An ertzaina who was out of working hours said he surprised three people by stealing at his home from the village of Treviño. When they fled, the ertzaina assured that he had seen the camper's license plate and that he had started looking for it in his car. He said he found them on Mount Zaldiaran. At the time, the Ertzaintza reported that the three individuals had tried to run over him with the van, so they were forced to shoot him. Finally, he managed to retain one of the two people and the other two fled.
What the Ertzaintza has investigated below does not correspond to what the ertzaina has declared out of service. “The officers shot the robbers when they fled the vehicle and at no time tried to run over the Ertzaintza,” the Security Department said.
As a result of these tests, the ertzaina was arrested on Wednesday, and charged for three homicide crimes. The detainee will be brought to justice in the next few hours, as reported by the Basque Department of the Interior.
