The Russian Investigation Committee (CIS) today announced that it will begin investigating torture and the use of chemical weapons against four Russian soldiers on Russian territory. According to EIK, the bodies of four Russian soldiers with evidence of torture were found; the committee notes that persons who have committed these alleged crimes are not identified and adds that hatred or opposition can be motivated crimes.

"After the fights, we found the bodies of four Russian soldiers with signs of torture. According to the experts' conclusions, the lesions were collected when they were still alive," says EIK. "These facts constitute a violation of the treatment of prisoners of war proclaimed in the Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949," the committee adds.

The investigation will be carried out with the departments of the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, among others.

On the other hand, the committee will examine whether the Ukrainian armed forces have used weapons and chemical material through unmanned aerial vehicles. This hypothesis is based on a report published by the Russian Army which states that unmanned aerial vehicles containing mechanisms for storing and disposing of different chemicals have been located in military installations abandoned by the Ukrainian Army.
