The PSN of the Ribera asks for vote in eight languages, but not in Basque
  • This is one of the posters that the PSN is using in the Ribera to request the vote of the citizens. This week, at least in Lodosa and Viana, you've seen these things.

Eight languages are used: Spanish, Portuguese, English, Arabic, Romanian, French, German and Ukrainian.

It draws attention, because there is no Basque language, and on the contrary, if there is Euskaldunes in the Ribera, surely more than speakers in most of those languages.

This may mean that the PSN does not believe it can lure the Basques of the Bank into a vote. Or perhaps, and this is a more credible hypothesis, the socialists in the Bank believe that the use of the Basque Country will take away votes.

Attitudes against Basque in Navarre are very old, but in recent years they have been promoted especially in the Ribera, even from the institutional level. For example, in 2019 the City of Tudela published a contest for a Municipal Police job and the knowledge of German, French and English had a value of five points, while the knowledge of the Basque was not valued.

VII Euskararen 2021. According to the socio-linguistic survey, 37% of the Navarre population was against the promotion of Euskera, 2% less than in 2016, but still three points more than in 2011.
