Despite the reform of the reserves, the crowd reconvenes in Baiona
  • Today, in Iparralde, the fourteenth day of strike against the reform of the reserves is celebrated. The trade unions have convened a demonstration in about 250 cities in the French state.

Although the reform of the retas passed on 14 April the French Government, the opposite voice remains strong and massive. Proof of this is Tuesday’s fourteenth protest in Iparralde and 250 other cities. Hundreds of people have joined the streets of Baiona in the morning in favour of abolishing this unjust reform of the retas.

Parliament also wants to cut the path of reform, taking advantage of the latest opportunities offered by the French Constitution. Among the options are the vote on the proposal for a law abolishing the reform, which will take place on 8 June.

Finally, May 1 saw the mobilization against this reform and was placed "among the most important days in the social history of this country, the French State". Unlike some time ago, all union workers are united in this fight: CGT, CFDT, CFE-CGC, FO, FSU, Solidaires, FA and UNSA – unforgettable structures such as LAB and OECD for the Northern Basque Country.

Reform in force for 1 September

High, the French Government is following its agenda: on 1 September it wants to start the change. To this end, it has some 30 written decrees and ordinances to introduce the amendments that the reform entails in other texts.

Seven out of ten citizens are opposed to this reform that extends the age of portraits from 62 to 64 years.
