Resistance Box to Help Dismissed Household Employees Pay Housing
  • Some workers in the house have lost their jobs in this coronavirus crisis. In addition to wages, they have also lost their sleep, as they lived in the same place where they worked. A number of associations in Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia have set up a resistance fund to help the 65 workers pay the one-month rent.

The Basque Government intends to raise a minimum of EUR 13,000. With this amount, a bonus of 200 euros would be given to 65 household employees so that they can cope with the monthly rental. In a note published by the associations that have set up the Resistance Fund, the Spanish Government has announced that unemployed homeworkers will receive a subsidy equivalent to 70 per cent of the salary. Therefore, only those workers discharged from social security will be recognised as beneficiaries, leaving out workers employed in the black economy, i.e. those who work without a contract.

This initiative has been launched by the following associations: Feminists by Nicaragua - Euskal Herria Elkartea, Asociación Mujeres con Voz (Getxo), Asociación Mujeres Tejiendo Red y Trabajadores No Domesticadas. They are collaborators: Calala Women's Fund, Pikara Magazine and Sortzen Consulting If you want to make a donation you can go to this link.
