The news that several media outlets have made known in recent hours. For years, different actors have denounced the impact of the incinerator on health, the environment and the economy. There's also infrastructure insecurity. The workers at the Zubieta plant, who have been locked up in Vitoria-Gasteiz, have now joined this complaint. The works council of the Zubieta incinerator has called for a job stoppage for this Thursday, 1 July. Two hours of unemployment, from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. During this time they plan to conduct a concentration.
The strike has been convened by the Ekobal Works Council, the company that manages the plant. This Working Committee has denounced that "the minimum occupational health and safety measures that have been laid down are not being complied with". They denounce that this situation has a significant impact. As a result of the continuing infringements, "there have been several incidents that have put the health of the workforce at risk".
They denounce the authoritarianism of the management of the company, which constantly changes their work shifts, hours and schedule. "This authoritarianism is also being reflected in other reprisals and expulsions," he added.
The Working Committee finally calls for a change of attitude and respect for the working team and its representatives.
