Gipuzkoa Zutike calls for a march to the place where they want to make incinerator and macro prison
  • Gipuzkoa Zutik reports that on Sunday, September 23, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa calls for a march to the place where it wants to carry out the incinerator and the macro prison. "The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa is creating a big problem by trying to impose this useless infrastructure. It will put hundreds of thousands of people who live within a radius of 30 kilometers at serious risk, because for 24 hours a cloud of cancer will be forming, and the wind will move them from one place to another. How to accept this? ", they say.

The note to the press says that the world must leave the incinerators behind. "Some indifferents are polluting the air, squandering public money and warming the climate." Three incinerator projects have been cancelled in the last week: One in Buenos Aires, another in Mexico City and the last in Sydney. "How do you understand when people are giving up this path, to do something like this in Gipuzkoa? Better if they invest a quarter of the money they want to spend in the incinerator in sustainability and real measures to improve recycling rates! It is clear that there is no need for an incinerator, that there are alternatives.”

A poster calling for a march.

“The incinerator is seen as a symbol of today’s neoliberal policy.” "Nobody wants this incinerator, only those who want to receive a contract of millions of euros from public money that is everyone's money. In addition, it should not be forgotten that the multinational Urbaser is being investigated in many countries to pay commissions to politicians in exchange for public contracts. The PNV party, whose De Miguel case has broken out in Álava, also shows that it has been charging commissions for many years in the exchange of contracts in the Basque Country. What the hell is going on here? “We demand the truth,” he said.

To denounce the case of Ainhoa Intxaurrandieta and Iñaki Errazkin in this course, the Corrupt Angle lectures given by Intxandeeta and Igor Melchor consider that "the incinerator project is a visible case of corruption". Numerous examples have been listed: The computers stolen from GHK, the trucks given to the FCC, the swap loan contracts, the invitation to the bankers with public money to celebrate them, and the accusation of more than 40 million euros in the personal way of Intxaurrandieta and Errazkini. "Not acceptable" in their own words.

This video summary of last year’s march was made by Gipuzkoa Zutike.

They also believe that the issue of macro prison deserves attention. "How can we allow people to build a huge prison 100 meters from the incinerator? How can we allow prisoners to enter this gas chamber for years? But what the hell is this? ".

In tune with several European protests

Last year Gipuzkoa Zutike held the march for the first time and members of the German Ende Gelände movement have been commemorated in it. "Disobedient movements across Europe against the climate and against useless projects are gaining momentum. Whether in Germany, in the Czech Republic, in the Netherlands... we are there too." They want to show that many people do not join the projects of the incinerator and the macro prison.

The Little Revolutions Crusade All Weekend

They wanted to remember that "for popular movements and citizens who dream of a different Basque Country" the Little Revolutions Camping Camp has been called by the Tierra Libre movement in Zubieta for this weekend. It is reported that they adhere to the call. The march will take place on Sunday at 16:00 from the town of Zubieta.

The poster is made by calling it the Little Revolutions Crusade.

The initiative will consist of four main blocks:

1- Discussion and reflection on various topics. "In addition to looking for the weak points of the enemy, we will look for the contradictions of ourselves," say the members of Territorio. "What kind of models of militancy do we practice? What kind of commitments do we make? What has the Catalan process taught us? Can we transform the Basque Country from below and to the left of our white and socioeconomically integrated movements? How to refine the forms of struggle, alliances, conflicts and violence? What kind of liberating dialogue can be built between organizations and popular movements?"

2- Strategies will be shared and agreed to continue building popular power."Sewing networks of those who disagree with the current political situation, building alliances, organizing specific fights for next spring."

3- The sovereignty of life has been cultivated: Participants will learn about community experiences in the fields of food sovereignty, housing, care, energy, employment, finance...

&4- A collective initiative will be held on 23 September. This will be announced at a later date, in accordance with the publication of the detailed programme.

"We're going to put life at the center," says Tierra Libre. "It will be an antipatriarchal, anti-capitalist, community, self-formed and self-critical, combative and joyful field."
