Council of Europe recommends strengthening the Basque country in the "non-Basque area" and in the "mixed area"

The Council of Europe has received the advice in a report on minority languages in the Spanish State. Commitment to strengthen the use of the Basque Country in the "non-vascophony zone" and in the "mixed zone" of Navarra. It is committed to offering more services in Basque "in an area in which the language is not co-official". Among the "recommendations for immediate action", the report also highlights "the use of Euskera in the public administration of the Foral Community of Navarra", as in Gipuzkoa, Gipuzkoa and Gipuzkoa.

The report stresses that the situation of the Basque Country is "good", but recommends that its use be reinforced and expressly quotes Osakidetza and the Ertzaintza, as well as the health and safety services of Navarre.

The report assesses the situation in the Basque Country and currently 71% of young people between the ages of 16 and 24 are Euskaldunes; in 2006 62% and in 1991 25%.
