Amalur Álvarez and Josu Etxaburu point out that they listen to politicians talking about the right to decide, but consider that we have to go beyond words: "We think society is tired of hearing that it's not the right time. This people deserves more ambition. For the will of sovereignty of this people has not been extinguished; on the contrary, this desire for sovereignty will awaken 400 cimas of the entire Pyrenees".
They say that the Basques have not chosen the legal and political framework in which we live, and that is why "it is time to give the floor to the people, or perhaps to allow the citizens to take the floor".
According to the representatives of our hand, the right to decide deserves a serious popular debate, and they do not understand how the Basque Parliament could continue to delay the issue: "70% of the population of the seven territories is in favour of a referendum. 7 of 10: Is there a broader agreement? The 2018 political agreement responded to that vast majority, but since then the parties have moved away from the majority. Let us not limit the right to decide on statements and short-term holders."
They say that reality is stubborn and that it shows repeatedly the serious consequences of the lack of sovereignty, both in the area of the health crisis and in other areas. From the point of view of the Northern Basque Country, the struggle of many students, professors and citizens for the construction and direction of the brebeta in Euskera has been considered a good example: "They have managed to get the Basque College to make a commitment to collect and channel this claim. We Basque citizens have the right to decide directly, without limits and freely our political institutions, our political status and the degree of self-government and relations between our territories. As all the nations of the world have the right to self-determine our future. We therefore need decision-making instruments available to citizens, including referendums."
They stress that the regulation and impetus of the referendum is an institutional task, and they call on the Basque Parliament to do so. They state that the same claim will be transferred later to the institutions of Navarre and the Northern Basque Country.
They therefore call on the Basque Parliament to recognise the right to decide in law to revive the debate in the autumn, and to put in place mechanisms to ensure citizen participation in that debate, not later than 2022-23. In any case, Enti Esku has announced that what has been done in the institutions will not be expected, and there they have placed the mobilisation of 2 July: "With special lanterns and lanterns we will build a light line from Cape Higer to Creus, from the Cantabrian to the Mediterranean."
With the light line of the Pyrenees, Inca Esku says they want to fulfill three objectives: on the one hand, to draw international attention, to show that Catalonia and the Basque Country are supporters of self-determination, on the other hand, to move from solidarity to cooperation between Catalonia and Euskal Herria, and finally, to awaken the "popular enthusiasm" for the claim.
