Eneko Olasagasti: "The Basque Government does not activate new economic items for body builders"
  • The strike called in the Basque culture sector in Euskal Herria for this Wednesday is the second day. Apart from not offering cultural content for two days, they have used it to assess the political measures that have been taken so far.

Filmmaker Eneko Olasagasti is one of the creators who has joined the digital strike. He was very critical of the economic aid announced by the Basque Government last Wednesday, the day of the call for a digital strike in the Basque Country.

He pointed out that the requests for aid by workers in the sector are well above the 2.5 million already announced and that the aid announced by the Basque Government is not a new item, but a heading for Lanbide. “No more games are being activated than those that already existed, they have taken it from one site and put it in another.”

In his statements, Olasagasti called for "urgent measures" because the situation in the cultural sector was already precarious and added that if the situation is not reversed many workers in the sector will remain "in social poverty".

Olasagasti has pointed out that it is difficult to quantify the number of people who have joined the digital strike, since, in addition to the list of more than 1,000 people who have signed the call, many others, whether or not they are cultural employees, have refused these days to share cultural content and have hung a sign of the call for strike on their networks.
