The World March of Women of the Basque Country and the feminist movement of the Basque Country have denounced that male violence continues to be a daily pandemic. They insist on the need for real feminist prevention policies that are transverse and that deepen co-education and equal treatment. Both groups have agreed on the need to consider sexist violence as a top-level political problem. Emakunde has recalled that male violence is the most brutal and harsh expression of inequality between women and men in the Basque Country.
In the Sestao Kasko Square, the feminist group Ernari has organized a repulsive rally to denounce the Machista murder. Institutional representatives such as the mayor and representatives of all municipal groups, the Minister for Equality of the Basque Government, Beatriz Artozabal, the director of Emakunde, Izaskun Landaida, the president of the Bizkaia General Boards, Ana Otadui, and the Deputy for Equality, Teresa Laespada, have met in the same place.
With the help of the World Women’s March, they have concentrated on the Arriaga square in Bilbao. There have also been protests in several capitals of Euskal Herria, such as the Boulevard de Donostia-San Sebastián, the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca of Vitoria-Gasteiz or the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Pamplona.
