The main objectives of the UPV/EHU for the next four years in the area of gender equality are: To maintain a percentage close to 40% of female professors in their entirety; to halve the wage gap and, finally, "to remain a reference in training and research in Basque society", as well as in the struggles against gender violence, reinforcing its protocol. To do so, they want to foster scientific vocations between girls and women, dismantling roles.

IV Equality Plan. The plan was presented this Monday by UPV/EHU Eva Ferreiro, Secretary General Aitor Zurimendi and Equality Director Elena Leiñena. This new plan will be in force until 2028. The rector has pointed out that the UPV/EHU is a “benchmark” in gender policies. “Also, as far as diversity is concerned, we promote LGTBI+ themed work and have approved the protocol to rename transits and non-binary people.”

The new equality plan comes from a diagnosis of equality that has been made at the University of the Basque Country. In this study, the majority disciplines are those related to Health, Education and Social Sciences, while the minimum ones are those related to Science, Technology and Engineering. In the higher job categories, women represent a significant minority, with 22 per cent of professors and professors. The UPV/EHU has announced the Fourth International Congress for Equality. The plan will have a budget of EUR 2.5 million.
