After eight days of strike and numerous mobilizations in the locality, workers at the Elizondo Senior Centre have reached an agreement to renew the collective agreement. This agreement improves the living conditions of workers. As you have pointed out, the improvements would be wage increases, reduction of working hours, recovery of sick leave from day one, incorporation of pre-retirement by relay contract, agreed work schedules, improvements in excess or automatic implementation of all the improvements that will be made with the signing of the sectoral agreement for Navarre.

"It wasn't easy to get here. We have had to overcome many obstacles (covid-19, high inflation, current situation of international uncertainty...), but above all we have had to deal with one company: IDEA Socio-health services, nothing empathic, which has had no negotiating will, have always taken precedence over their economic benefit. Moreover, knowing that he will have to leave Elizondo's headquarters within a maximum of two years," the workers said.

The workers have highlighted the struggle and unity shown by the workers, and have thanked the support received among the citizens in the Baztan region.

However, they wished to underline that much work remains to be done "worthy of working conditions in this sector, as neither companies nor institutions make any kind of recognition". However, they have recognised that, with this agreement, they feel "a little more recognised".

Finally, they have announced that their fight in the future will be aimed at arming and materializing the commitment of the Baztan City Hall to make the residence public. "We want to assert the need for a public headquarters, with direct control and management, to become a public space. Ensuring decent working conditions for our grandparents and grandmothers is essential to providing adequate care. We need a surveillance system that is alien to economic benefit and business logic, that puts residents and caregivers at the center," they say.
