The price of fresh food in the Basque Country is rising sharply, according to data provided by Gaindegia
  • According to data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) provided by Gaindegia, in year-on-year growth rate, the price of fresh vegetables rose 7 points in Hego Euskal Herria and 30 points in Iparralde compared to April last year.

For its part, Fish has risen 9.6 points in Hegoalde and 9 points in Iparralde. And fresh fruit, 12.2 in the South and 10.8 in the North.

The price of fuels, however, has decreased, as shown in the graph below. The data for the French Basque Country correspond to the French State.

As can be seen in Figure 2, housing and transport costs have been reduced "due to the enormous reduction in oil prices".

Data from April show a different evolution from that of marzo.En Ipar Euskal Herria prices rose slightly and then in Hego Euskal Herria they remained.
