The centre-right Bernard Elhorga will be the new candidate of Senpere, head of the ‘Agir pour Saint-Pee’ list, with 1,333 votes in the second round of 26 February. Christophe Jaureguy is second with 1,233 votes. Jaureguy, head of Hats Berri’s list, consists of nationalists and former elected majorities who resigned, who will be opposed. There was close competition between the two, with only 35 votes in the first round. Elhorga will take office on 3 March.
Dominique Idiart won 886 votes with the group list for Elgarrekin Senpere. What has so far been a contentious issue is third. Indeed, they have advanced the elections because of the political crisis caused by the discrepancies with Idiart. Its administration was criticised and resigned by ten majority voters in October, and in December seven opposition voters ceased.
