The events occurred in October 2016, in the Rochapea district of Pamplona. Spanish police arrested Elhadji Ndiaye, a young black man, and held him on the ground. So they stayed for 15 minutes, until he was moved unconscious to the police station. He died there. It has not yet been possible to clarify what has happened on the scene.
The case of George Floyd, a young black man killed in the United States, revives the memory of Ndiaye. Convened by Africa United and Sortu, several people have concentrated on Marcelo Celayeta Street in the Biscayan capital. With a floral offering, they have kneeled down on the ground and raised their cuffs, with a gesture that has become a symbol of the protests.
Modou Faye, Africa United, “as in the United States, here too the police kill black people.” Ainhoa Urrutia, of the Sortu, has claimed that "we fight to end all racist and inhumane laws", stressing the importance of all lives.
